WHO WE ARE
TWO LEGGED FACILITATORS
Nancy Hanner
As long as I can remember I’ve had a great passion for horses! However, growing up in Detroit, Michigan didn’t provide a young city girl an easy opportunity to be around horses - though I finally got my wish to take riding lessons and at nineteen I saved up enough money to purchase my first horse. Unfortunately, due to a family crisis, I was force to sell my horse after only three years of ownership.
Just a little over five years ago, a friend (who also introduced me to my now husband) helped ignite my long suppressed passion for horses. This time I was introduced to western trail riding along with camping. What a rush to go away and camp with horse people and horses! Today, between me and my husband, we now have a herd of 10 horses and of course a camper/horse trailer!
While raising my daughter and son, I earned my Associates in Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s in General Studies with the primary focus in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, and Communications at University of Michigan-Dearborn. I was also the winner for that year’s honor scholar award in Training Design and Development. I pursued my Masters through Oakland University in a new program which focused on Instructional Design, Organizational Development and Adult Learning concepts and strategies. After three years of hard work (and I emphasize—hard work!) between school and my full time corporate position, I again graduated with honors. I also became a grandmother to a beautiful baby boy during this period of time!
In 2005, I left my position with BCBSM of nine plus years as a Training Supervisor (a year and a half as a contractor) to move to the thumb area to be with my new husband. This was a huge life-altering change for me, but one that I am so grateful for as I am able to be with a man who I know is as devoted to me as I am to him!
I truly believe that the Lord works in mysterious ways because it was just by coincidence that I met Tracy! My husband was driving me around the area when we passed her facility with the big sign outside that said “Kaleidoscope, Learning Circle” along with a web address. I was so intrigued that I sent Tracy a letter along with my resume. Not long after Tracy and I met, we realized we had quite a lot in common! A passion for horses and intrinsic goals to educate and enhance people’s lives!
