WHO WE ARE

TWO LEGGED FACILITATORS

Amber Dawn Burkhardt, LLMSW

Amber obtained her masters degree in clinical social work at the University of Michigan focusing on children, adolescents, and adults in individual and group settings.  She has a strong background in cognitive behavioral therapy working with issues such asdepression, anxiety, and stress and anger management.  She takes a strengths-based approach to personal growth and family interactions, while using solution-focused strategies toward crisis management.

Amber’s professional experience comes from her role as a clinical social worker with the Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools, a medical social worker in the emergency department with the University of Michigan Health System, and as a case manager with SOS Community Services. See Ambers Resume.

As a division 1 track and field athlete at Eastern Michigan University and a national competitor as an all around amateur in the Paint and Pinto horse breeds, Amber has had a lot of personal experience balancing priorities, striving for success, and accomplishing goals.  AmberLife lessons learned in these situations have led Amber to helping individuals in similar roles and those who find themselves in transition, which is why she is now offering to help people make good decisions by becoming a Life Coach.  For more specific information about her coaching program send us an email amber@aleguponlife.org.

In her spare time, Amber rides and trains her Paint and Quarter horses and has begun raising the foals of her superior western pleasure Paint mare “Misstee Jack Bar”.  Her passion for horses began at the age of 9 while showing 4-H aboard her palomino pony, Pal.  She later formed a partnership with a horse named “A Spot of Sugar” and competed in Paint and Pinto events, ranking 3rd in the Nation in Pinto and 13th in the Nation in Paint in 2000.  One of her most exciting accomplishments was being crowned Miss Michigan Pinto in 2000 and winning First Runner-Up in the Miss Pinto of America competition.

"Grace keeps us from worrying because worry deals with the past, while grace deals with the present and future."-- Joyce Meyer
